Professional & Technical Training

Professional and Technical Training is a key driver of economic growth because of its positive linkage with employability, entrepreneurship, women empowerment and productivity contributing to building a knowledge-based productive economy. Every Pakistani citizen must be allowed to reach his or her full potential if Pakistan aims to transform itself into a just, prosperous, and sustainable society in near future.

To cater for the professional and technical training requirements of the country after devolution, the Government has taken a very timely decision by creating a dedicated Ministry of Professional & Technical Training for the purpose.

            This Ministry is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing efforts to provide quality training to professionals and skilled technicians.

Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (FBISE) has undertaken computerization of examination activities introduction of new certificates with additional security features and completed digital archiving of old record and admission forms.

National Centre for Rural Developments conducted 58 training courses/workshops and trained 1501 participants from elected representatives, senior and mid level officers from nation building departments and representatives of NGOs.

Pakistan Manpower Institute conducted 36 training programmes and trained 1363 officers/executives in the field of human resource development planning, management and information technology to officers and executive from public and private sectors organizations and conducted related research.

During the year 2011, Academy of Educational Planning and Management trained more than 400 Education Managers from all over the country in various areas such as Planning & Management, Financial Management and use of data in educational planning and management. AEPAM has also completed three research studies on various issues related to education.

For poverty alleviation and women empowerment, National Education Foundation is providing them jobs at their doorsteps. A pilot project of 10 Community Learning Centres for imparting skill development for females has been successfully executed.

·         Construction of 04 Community Schools, Buildings in Muzaffarabad AJ&K under the project “Grant for Sustainability of Community Schools were also established by NEF.

·         Books were provided to the libraries of 100 private educational institutions all over the country.

Under the National Talent Pool, During the last year, 18 consultancies in various fields of specialization have been arranged through the visits of highly qualified overseas Pakistani professionals i.e. 06 in Applied Sciences, 05 in Medical Sciences, 04 in Natural Sciences, 01 in Social Sciences, 01 in IT and 01 in Management under “President’s Programme for the Care of Highly Qualified Overseas Pakistanis”.

National Internship Programme offered internship facilities to approximately 40,000 graduates from all over the country during 2008- 2011.

National Commission for Human Development started Adult Literacy Programme 2011 under which 2,568 centers were completed, 64,200 learners enrolled, 2600 teachers and 260 local supervisors trained.

National Vocational & Technical Training Commission:

NAVTEC is involved in policy making, strategy formulation and regulation and revamping of TVET system.

Achievements

·         132,487 youth received vocational & technical training through NAVTEC’s sponsored programme so far, whereas 26,662 people equipped with skills during current financial year.

·         Established 125 new Vocational & Technical Training Centers in uncovered tehsils of the country.

·          Signed agreements with Netherland, Germany & European Union on Technical Assistance Implementation Agreement through German International Development Agency (implementation of National Skills Strategy)

·         Developed international linkages with various TVET partners such as JICA, UNESCO, TIKA, GIZ, World Bank, British Council, ILO, UNIDO, USAID, EU etc

·         41 curricula of Technical & Vocational stream have been notified so far

·         107 skill standard have been adopted from Sri Lanka with copy rights

·         500 teachers trained through Training of Trainers (ToT) project.

·         Developed a plan to impart training to the youth of Balochistan at large-scale by utilizing the institutes of Punjab, Sindh and ICT.
